Throughout history we have seen that great partnerships are stronger than the sum of its parts. The music industry gave us Simon and Garfunkel, Hall and Oates, Sonny and Cher, movies gave us Astaire and Rodgers, Lewis and Martin, Beavis and Butthead (just joking), in sport we had Ali and Frazier and NOW Deltec Springbok Racing.
In what can only be seen as a match made in heaven Deltec Racing (owned by Marius van Wyk) merged with Castle Springbok Racing(owned by Hendrich van Rensburg) to form this exciting new team. Marius will take over management of the team with Hendrich remaining on as driver with team mate Riaan van der Westhuizen. Dear reader as you know, I am not an arrogant person (you can read some of my previous work at http://ceanon.enion.webignition.net/springbok/news.html) but I must say that it was a bit of a knock to my ego when I had to reapply for my job with Marius van Wyk. But all is well that ends well and I am extremely excited about joining the team for the rest of the season.
My first assignment will be the Spanish GP at Barcelona. Having watched the first few races on TV I must say that the World Series is looking stronger than ever with record fields at every race so far. As a matter of fact I have seen less traffic congestion leaving the drive-inn halfway through the latest Ben Affleck movie than I have seen during recent qualifying sessions.
As far as the season ahead, my boys have entered the WS AMA class which is proving to be much more challenging than expected. I have also added in a picture collage from a recent test session at Barcelona by our chief photographer Slang (Snake) van Zyl.
I look forward to seeing all of you at Barcelona!!!
