Race Day at Sepang, Malaysia - 24 March 2007

Welcome to Malaysia, and at the first race of the FSR WS Series.
It's a beautiful day, with track temperatures at 34 and humidity at 44 degrees.
Drivers will consume about 5 litres of fluid for the 28 lap race.

The competition was stiff, with Quali times started at 1.31.00

Marius managed to quali P6 in Qualy 1, with a time os 1.32 535 That is .203 off his PB.
With Parc Ferme rules in place, the Top 10 did a second quali. I qualied P4.

After the formation lap, the moments were tense before the start! 18 cars on grid!
Unfortunate for Riaan and Jaco of our Deltec Racing Team, the drivers could not join due to a technical internet connection problem beyond their control.

Race started. I had a bad start and down to P8. I made several positions up to P5, before my first pitstop on lap 15.

The second stint went ok, made a few mistakes which costed me P3. So the end result P4. I am happy with the result : - )

Simracer Riaan van der Westhuizen

Riaan started his career by racing go karts from an early age, very much like Mr Schumacher. From then onwards, he was hooked onto racing!
He went on to racing the MAN Racing Trucks on Kyalami, amongst other commitments.

In 2005 Riaan joined the FSR League, where he did 8 (offline) races in the WS Pro75 division.
2006 saw him relocating to another suburb, thus only able to finish 3 (online) races in the Pro75
series.
Says Riaan-'I am extremely excited about 2007! I am motivated and commited to give my best for the Deltec team.'

Riaan also competes this year in the SARL league, where he will be driving Ford V8 Falcon, F1 1979 as well as Zonda Enduro Series.

First official test at FSR Malaysia track

Today was a very exceptional day.
We as a team were able to test both our cars, together with the Rothmans F1 Racing Team, at the FSR Malaysian track. The testing went well, as usual...

Deltec Team Manager on track at Kyalami

It is not often that team managers get the chance to test drive the newly designed cars.

The DR-07.01 was designed by our chief designer Riaan van der Westhuizen. We are very happy with the car livery, as we had a lot of compliments already.
So I had the opportunity to take our car for a few laps on Kyalami Track in South Africa.
Here are some pics..

Invitation to Malaysian Race

Riaan & I took the opportunity to join a 'fun race' on Malaysia Track last night, together with 3 other races from all of the world.

Riaan opted to drive the Mclaren MP4-22 and I tried out the BAR 007 .

We thoroughly enjoyed it and we had great fun! (We actually forgot about the parc ferme rules)
We took some pictures...

Shakedown at Kyalami Home Track, South Africa

Since the team car launch, we have been doing good testing on the DR-07.01 car. A total of 325 laps, from both our drivers have been done with short and long stints, testing various components and aero-dynamic upgrades.

We are practicing for the upcoming Malaysia Race on 24 March 2007.

Our official home testing track is that of the notorious Kyalami track in South Africa. This track is ideal for testing various components of the car.

Here are some pre-test pictures...
